Baby's First Christmas

video

Wow! Baby. Wedding. Christmas. That's not for the faint hearted I tell thee. We are now Knackered, Skint and Fat;).

2012 was just the most incredible year. I somehow had all my dreams come true! I truly never thought I would ever meet my soulmate let alone get married or have a baby. I feel very blessed. And this to all the Single Ladies: LET ME BE YOUR BEACON OF HOPE!

Christmas was amazing with Hunter. Although he doesn't understand it yet, we do and that made it brilliant. He was spoilt rotten. Naturally! Nannie and Grandad bought him one of those push along trike thingumajigs and he LOVES it! And he got an array of clothes, toys and books from virtually every single person we know. We felt very grateful. Only downside is that he can't write his own thank you cards yet;(.

Hunter also gave a present to himself. One which caused him no end of grief and us no end of sleeplessness: His Two Front Teeth! Bless him. Their arrival also coincided with the worst cold he's had so far and a trip to a strange house in a strange country in the shape of my family's place in Austria.....

Thank God it's quite a big old chalet or the whole family would have been sleep deprived. Andy and I ended just getting him in bed with us and to hell with the consequences when he was better but tbh, there haven't been any. In fact, since we got home he has been napping like a dream and sleeping fully through the night!  My hitherto "fussy baby" has turned into an "easy baby" almost over night. "Thrilled" doesn't even begin to cover it:-).

He's not crawling yet but I don't think he ever will. He hates being on his tummy and essentially, is a bit lazy so he sits there and reaches for his toys etc and if he can't reach them, he just looks for something else to occupy him. I hope this doesn't mean my son is going to be the ultimate quitter;(.

Food wise, I encourage him to feed himself a lot of the time: pieces of fruit and toast and at meal times he gets a mixture of what I've had the time to prepare and freeze and jars. I know that the jars aren't ideal but sometimes, I'd rather be doing things with him than plonking him in a baby bouncer while I prepare Annabel Karmel's finest. Plus sometimes I slave over that stuff then the little bugger turns his nose up at it anyway....

Some of the things that we are loving at the moment are:

The Fisher Price rainforest baby bouncer. Sometimes referred to by some of my friends (tongues firmly in cheeks) as the Circle Of Neglect;(

This amazing Chicco chair. It reclines to so he can lie back and drink his milk (he hasn't quite mastered the art of tipping the bottle up yet;))

I actually took him along to a Chicco event not so long ago as my friend does PR for them (yes, we are VERY VERY lucky!) and there was an aladdin's cave of baby wondrousness there. (photo below). I find it both ironic and a little bit sad that I now get as excited about baby shiz as I used to about shoes.

So I won't go on too long. (that's what happens when you don't write a post forever and a day!) but can I just say a massive thanks for all the time saving advice that you all gave last time and also a massive thanks for commenting on the blog at all:-). I know I'm not very good at replying to them but I do read them and I do take on board all the comments and advice you take the time to give me. It's like having the ultimate baby manual right here and I really appreciate it! THANK YOU!!

Gallery below and a short video of Hunter practicing his Irish Jigging at the top, I don't know how to order them on this bloody blog; I'm such a technophobe, so sorry about random order;(
He'll be chasing Flatley's coat-tails in no time;(.

Best. Present. Ever.

"Someone call Social Services, they've got me dressed up as a bloody PUDDING!"

Hunter must've been VERY good this year;)

New Mum Porn;)

More Chicco Loveliness. I want it ALL;)

"Trying me some good Austrian lager;)"

  1. Although I'm a guy and not a girl this has given me a little bit of hope Sarah because you guys seem so happy and in love and Hunter is so adorable. I'm so glad to read that your family had such a nice Christmas although it led to the three negative things but I'm sure the weight will be lost quickly now the New Year's been rung in, have a great 2013 Sarah and family!

  2. Sarah, I've been reading your blog and not commenting, but had to this time, In this post you say thanks to those who comment to you, but can I just say thanks to you for even posting this blog in the first place :)
I seem to experience everything that you experience a month later than you and it puts me so at ease knowing that im not the only one who feels this way about things, literally every one of your posts have helped me, from the baby blues at the start, to you mentioning in this one that Hunter isn't interested in crawling - my son is a month younger than Hunter and isn't interested in crawling either, he just tries and reaches for something and if its out of his reach he just seems to give up and change his mind. I was starting to worry but knowing that its the same for someone else out there too, it just puts my mind at rest.

So, please keep the blogs coming as often as you have time to do so, I love reading them and I'm gutted that I don't know you personally because I reckon our boys would be such a giggle together!

Happy 2013, and congratulations on getting married! Looking forward to the next post.....

  3. I do like catching up with your blog (I seem to catch up after you've read a couple, so forgive the late comments lol).

When I had my twins, the 'Circle of Neglect' was much used and saved my life lol.

    Glad your Christmas was wonderful.
